Sussex County REALTORS®, Kathy Ford and Robin Hearn have made a remarkable decision, destined to make a notable impact in the local community. For every home sold, Kathy and Robin will donate a percentage of their commission to Delaware Hospice to support the organization’s mission of providing quality hospice care to patients and families.

Kathy explained, “We don’t just sell houses, we sell and list homes that have emotional attachments. We are compassionate listeners, sensitive to the stories of hardship and heartbreak that are so often involved with the decision to sell a family home. And too often, this decision is driven by health reasons.”

Kathy, like many of us, has personally experienced the loss of a loved one. Her loss in early 1980s’ was before the establishment of Delaware Hospice in Sussex County. She said, “Although I worked in healthcare at the time, hospice was just evolving. I have seen in recent years the much needed support and expertise that Delaware Hospice offers, and the difference they make.”

Robin and Kathy chose Delaware Hospice as a very meaningful avenue to give back to the community. Robin said, “We believe this is a nonprofit organization which touches lives like no other. Anyone you speak to has had a positive experience with Delaware Hospice, and our clients will also be able to benefit from their services if they ever have the need to do so.”

To further honor the individuals either selling or buying a home, Kathy and Robin have offered that each donation will be given in the name of the client, or whomever they choose.

Robin and Kathy feel strongly about this personal commitment and welcome other agents to join the effort, as the impact of a collective effort such as this would indeed be profound.
