Delaware Hospice received a $150,000 charitable contribution from AstraZeneca in support of its “Community Campaign to Expand Delaware Hospice.” This capital campaign was established to fund the construction of Delaware Hospice Centers, which will provide a new option of hospice care throughout the state of Delaware.

“Delaware Hospice has a proven track record for providing high quality care with great skill and compassion,” said David Elkins, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP. “As a company that strives to make health care a more personal experience for patients and their families, AstraZeneca is pleased to help Delaware Hospice make a positive and lasting impact in the community.”

Susan Lloyd, President and C.E.O. of Delaware Hospice, expressed her appreciation, “This is a wonderful expression of confidence in Delaware Hospice and what we are striving to accomplish for our communities. AstraZeneca’s record of local charitable giving is commendable, and we’re honored by this meaningful contribution to our Community Campaign. We are very grateful as well on behalf of the families who will be the ultimate beneficiaries of AstraZeneca’s generosity.

The Delaware Hospice Centers will become a home away from home for patients in need of such an alternative. Professional care will be available 24 hours a day, giving caregivers needed support and quality time with their loved ones. They will find privacy, comfort, and comprehensive services in the 16 family suites, with family, kitchen and dining areas as well as a children’s alcove and a central gathering place. The Centers will also house a Community Resource Center, a Counseling Center, as well as home care and administrative offices.

“This will be a place to celebrate life,” said Vice President of Development, Manny Arencibia. “It’s a life service, helping people get the support they need to fulfill their wishes and dreams, and allowing family members to enjoy their time together while our staff manages all the details of care.”
