Delaware Hospice’s Lunch Bunch Lecture will be held on November 6th.

PRESS RELEASE:  October 19, 2009        FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Delaware Hospice’s Lunch Bunch Lecture will be held on November 6th.

“The Ten Things You Need to Know about Dementia,” will be covered at November’s Lunch Bunch Lecture on Friday, November 6th, from 12-1:30 p.m., at the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford.  A minimal donation of $3.00 is suggested for lunch.  Register by calling Vicki Costa, 302-856-7717, ext. 1129.

At last month’s Lunch Bunch, Dr. Judy Pierson presented a lecture entitled, “Hello from Heaven:  Near Death Experiences and After Death Communication.”

Dr. Pierson informed participants that according to a Gallop Poll, approximately eight million adults claim to have had a near death experience.  As many people are reluctant to report such experiences, researchers believe this is an underestimation.  Fifty million Americans, or one out of every five people, are estimated to have had an after death communication with a loved one.

Dr. Pierson said that near-death experiences often include the following characteristics:  a sensation of leaving the physical body and viewing it from above; a feeling of profound peace and calm; a sensation of traveling through a dark tunnel toward a bright light; being greeted by loved ones who have passed away; an experience of reviewing their lives where they see primarily the emotional impact they’ve had on others; an ambivalent feeling about returning to life because they feel so at peace and surrounded by love.

Citing Bill and Judy Guggenheim’s book, Hello from Heaven:  A new Field of Research--After-Death Communication Confirms that Life and Love are Eternal, Dr. Pierson discussed reports of after death communication.  According to the Guggenheims, who spent seven years researching and amassed more than 3,300 firsthand accounts of after death communication, the deceased choose to communicate through a familiar scent, a voice, in dreams, an electronic disturbance, telephone call, a “feeling of presence,” a touch or an appearance that might be fleeting, partial or luminous.

Lively discussion followed this fascinating lecture with sharing of personal stories.

The “Lunch Bunch” lecture series at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford is held the first Friday of the month, from 12 to 1:30 pm.  A minimal fee of $3 covers the lunch.  Organized by Delaware Hospice’s Family Support Center, the “Lunch Bunch” series is an outreach to help the community with support needs that they might have.  To register, learn more, or suggest a topic for discussion, call Vicki Costa, Associate Director of the Family Support Center, 302-856-7717, x1129 or write to her at:   This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
