Caregiver

Encouragement, Education and Resources for Caregivers

Often caregivers, or loved ones assuming a range of responsibilities on behalf of a person coping with a serious illness, feel overwhelmed, confused and even frustrated. Delaware Hospice recognizes the need for support, and we offer the following:

  • Companionship:  Many caregivers need a break from the emotional and physical challenges of caring for a loved one with a life-limiting illness.  Delaware Hospice coordinates volunteers who can offer temporary companionship.
  • Resources:   Caregivers often manage a range of responsibilities for their loved ones, including personal care, administration of finances and legal documentation, transportation to and from medical care, household tasks, child-care and much more.  The Transitions program provides referrals to local agencies that offer a host of services to help caregivers meet their responsibilities without exhausting themselves or their own resources.

Please visit our Educational Resources page to learn more about helpful information or agencies to which we refer caregivers.
