Family Support: Grief and Healing
While there is no one way to grieve, you may become
overwhelmed or even paralyzed by your feelings and have trouble returning to
your own life. At times, you may
experience difficulties sleeping, eating or participating in activities which
are normally enjoyable. You might
encounter uncomfortable feelings such as anxiety, guilt, confusion, and even
relief. For these reasons, Delaware
Hospice is dedicated to providing continuous services to family members
in the months following hospice care. We
offer grief counseling and support to meet the different needs of children and
adult family members for up to 13 months, or, for as long as needed.
LifeWorks Counseling:
Our LifeWorks program offers counseling for all members of the community, even for those not participating with Delaware Hospice, as they seek support and guidance before or following the loss of a loved one. Potential clients may take advantage of a free initial consultation, where counselors assess their needs and make recommendations for care. Follow-up sessions or support groups are recommended accordingly in response to the needs of each individual or family member.
Continuation of
Services and Support:
Delaware Hospice’s Bereavement Services respond to life’s new
challenges as you heal. Each person’s
story is unique, and we believe sharing those stories with a professional grief
counselor is helpful. We offer options
for adults, as well as for children, whose special needs are addressed through
our New Hope program. New Hope recognizes and affirms a child’s need to express their feelings in
a safe environment.

Delaware Hospice is accredited by The Joint Commission.
