Delaware Hospice Golf Outing Raises $24,000
Players, friends and supporters raised $24,000 at the Delaware Hospice Golf Outing on September 13, 2006, held at White Clay Creek Country Club. Title sponsor for the tournament was Wilmington Trust and Robert Harra, Jr., President and Chief Operating Officer of Wilmington Trust, served as Honorary Chair of the event. Primary sponsors were: Delaware River and Bay Authority, Harvey Hanna & Associates, and Delaware Today. VIP sponsors included: Bancroft Construction, Burgess Communications, Chris and Betsy Lee, the Chesapeake Companies, Delaware Racing Association, Delmarva Broadcasting, Elzufon Austin Reardon Tarlov & Mondel, Labware Inc., Nason Construction, New Castle Councilman Bill Tansey, Anne and Don Priester, Simm Associates, Software Services of Delaware, and Valero-Delaware City Refinery.
Since 1982, nearly 23,000 families have sought the aid of Delaware Hospice as they courageously faced the critical period of a loved one’s life. In response, Delaware Hospice’s experienced staff has tenderly and expertly given each patient member and family the care and support they deserve as well as the gifts of control and choice. Delaware Hospice’s goal is to help each patient, each day, live the fullest, most comfortable life possible.
Through the generous contributions of donors, volunteers, and sponsors, Delaware Hospice has been able to expand its services to the community. Families receive extensive bereavement support and counseling. Children who have lost family members benefit from grief counseling activities for youth in the New Hope Program or at our Camp New Hope—a special place and perfect environment for them to begin to heal. Seriously ill patients, who are not appropriate for hospice care, find relief and community resources through Delaware Hospice’s Transitions Program. Most importantly, donors’ gifts ensure access to hospice care for all—no patient is ever billed for Delaware Hospice’s services.
