Re: Delaware Hospice Seeks Volunteers in New Castle County

For a unique and truly rewarding life experience, we invite you to become a Delaware Hospice volunteer.  We are in search of kind, compassionate individuals to help support our patients and families.

As the only non-profit hospice organization in the State of Delaware, Delaware Hospice has been meeting community needs for 24 years, thanks to the support of its dedicated volunteers.

Hundreds of volunteers bolster Delaware Hospice’s activities, each contributing his or her own special gift.  Volunteers assist with community awareness, grief support, fundraising event organization, and office work.

Presently, there is a great need for patient support volunteers.  Volunteers might sit with patients for a few hours, allowing the caregiver to run errands, have dinner with a friend, or take a nap.  While visiting the patient the volunteer might offer a listening ear, read a book, share stories or just sit and hold their hand.

Volunteer training for new Delaware Hospice volunteers in Kent County will take place on Saturday, October 21st, and Saturday, October 28th, from 8:30 – 4:00, at the Delaware Hospice Office in Dover, 911 S. DuPont Hwy.  To register or learn more, call Judy Knutstad, Volunteer Coordinator, at 678-4448, ext. 117.

Volunteer training in New Castle County will start Wednesday Oct 11th and continue for 7 Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 in our office on Silverside Road.  To learn more call Marguerite Werner, Volunteer Coordinator at 479-2577, ext.127.

Sussex County’s Volunteer training will be held on October 17 and 18, from 8:30-4:00 p.m. at the Delaware Hospice’s Georgetown Office.   To learn more or to register for training, call Mary Costello, Volunteer Coordinator at 855-2344, ext. 120.

Volunteering for Delaware Hospice has a wonderful way of putting your life into perspective.

Life is precious… make the most of yours, and someone else’s.
