Six-Week Grief Support Group for Widows/Widowers/Life Partners begins March 13th in Wilmington

Delaware Hospice’s Bereavement Counselor, Carol Dobson, will lead a six-week support group for widows, widowers, and life partners on Tuesdays, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., beginning March 13th through April 17th, at Rockland Place, 1519 Rockland Dr., Wilmington, DE  19803.
Many people find that a group experience just for those who have lost a husband, wife or life partner is a very beneficial way to give and receive support.  One way to know that you are “normal” with your grief is to be with others who share the same heartaches.  Much more about grief is normal than many people think, and there are known ways to cope that can be learned.  Loneliness can be lessened by making new friends who have had a loss similar to yours.
Topics discussed include what to expect when grieving the loss of a very special person, ways to cope with grief, ways to prepare for special days and holidays, the complexities which include support and conflict regarding family dynamics, the significance of beliefs and expectations for healing, and ways to live into one’s future with a renewed sense of purpose and hope.
There is no fee for this service which is provided as a community outreach by Delaware Hospice.
Registration is requested by Monday, March 12th, by calling Carol Dobson, at 302-478-5707, x1342 or by emailing:  cdobson@delawarehospice.org
Specific dates of this meeting will be:  March 13th, March 20th, March 27th, April 3rd, April 10th, and April 17th.
