Delaware Hospice is licensed by the states of Delaware and Pennsylvania and is approved by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). In addition, a standing board-level committee that includes staff and community representatives oversees the compliance and quality of our programs year-round. But our commitment to providing first-rate programs and services doesn’t stop there. We’ve taken the following measures to offer patients and families extra assurance that you’re in good hands with Delaware Hospice.
Third-party accreditation by The Joint Commission
We’re proud to have earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Home Care Accreditation. Every three years, The Joint Commission thoroughly evaluates Delaware Hospice—interviewing patients, families, staff members, and volunteers; scouring records; and conducting site checks. To maintain our accreditation, we have to meet 100% of The Joint Commission’s quality assurance standards, which are more stringent than those of CMS and cover matters that CMS doesn’t monitor.

Membership in relevant associations
We maintain active membership in industry associations and committees that facilitate ongoing improvement and education in the field. We participate in:

Specialty certifications for staff
We provide support for employees pursuing specialty certifications—beyond the required credentials—in their respective fields, including recognition as Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurses. Our Katybug pediatric program is the only program of its kind in Delaware with Certified Hospice and Palliative Pediatric Nurses on staff.
