Lunch Bunch (Virtual): Childhood Sexual Abuse’s Impact on Adult Well-Being
August 5 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
Approximately 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 20 boys have been sexually abused as children. Children often don’t tell anyone of their abuse because the perpetrator has told them no one would believe them, it will break up the family or that the abuse is their fault. Predators groom and manipulate their victims skillfully. The legacy of childhood abuse shows up in adulthood as feelings of shame and unworthiness, struggles with depression or anxiety, self-neglect and a host of physical problems. Many box up their pain and put it on a shelf, but it doesn’t really go away. Your history does not define you especially when you reclaim your power to understand and manage the impact of painful events.
