Estimates suggest that 18 million people struggle with compulsive shopping. Shopping can be used to numb painful emotions, fill an internal void, or cope with stress. Often it feels driven by unknown forces. If you buy even when you have a closet full of unopened items or are deeply in debt, or because it relieves anxiety or gives you a high, you are not alone.
