Lunch Bunch (Virtual): Loving the Mosaic that is You
January 6 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
Walt Whitman wrote “Do I contradict myself? Very well then, I contradict myself. I am large: I contain multitudes.” Whitman’s description of himself is true for most of us. We are full of internal contradictions and complexities. This is because the human psyche is like a mansion with many rooms. Some rooms are prettier than others; some are tidy and pleasing, while others are quite messy. The rooms we show most people are those we take pride in and feel others will find acceptable. We hide and live in fear of having others stumble upon are less “noble” dimensions. Learning to love and accept all the parts of the self is key to emotional well-being. We all have “disowned” parts of ourselves. Being aware of these disowned parts gives us more control over them. The rooms we don’t show others often reflect hurts that need caring and attention. They contain kernels of truth about feelings and needs that are going unmet. Understanding what is “right” about what is “wrong” with you comes from looking at your less- noble parts with eyes of compassion and understanding their roots. Come learn what it means to have “no enemies within” so you can live a more authentic, open, conscious, rich and compassionate life.
