May 6, 2022 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Emerging research on the brain can greatly aid our understanding and ability to enhance emotional well-being. For example, seniors who stay active have more of a class of proteins that enhance neural connections and cognition. The use of psychedelics is offering promising treatments for depression and PTSD. We also now understand that childhood trauma physically alters the brain. Bessel van de Kolk’s book The Body Keeps the Score summaries many of the scientific advances in this area. It also explores innovative treatments that offer new paths to recovery by activating the brain’s natural neuroplasticity. Come learn what we are learning about the brain and its impact on our psychological health.
